BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a Christian who is a member of a church that holds Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior, and who holds solely the Old Testament and the New Testament as sacred Scriptures.
Must be an active member of a local Baptist Church.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
The Full-Time Faculty / Professor of Kinesiology will teach graduate Kinesiology classes and assist the Director of the Graduate Kinesiology Program in the overall activities and achievement of DBU goals related to student enrollment, recruitment, retention, curriculum design, revision, teaching assignments, operation of course rotations, planning class schedules, student advising, course design, reports, and development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Terminal Degree.
Master’s degree or graduate required hours in Kinesiology as required by SACSCOC.
Successful experience teaching Graduate level Kinesiology courses.
Excellent people skills (outgoing, relationship builder, etc.).
Previous professional work experience in Kinesiology or Health Science related jobs.
Be an advocate for students in the various programs being served.
Have experience in working, management, and/or development of an on-campus Human Performance Laboratory and its associated utilization for classes and academic preparation, athletic testing, and community engagement through dedicated programming.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with other staff members to advance the mission of Dallas Baptist University and the mission of the Dorothy M. Bush College of Education.
Work with graduate and undergraduate staff members to assure that the KINE and SPRM programs exceed the requirements set forth by SACSCOC and DBU.
Maintain a 40-hour work week in the office, including a minimum of 10 office hours per week for advising, consulting and mentoring of students.
Teach classes as assigned according to DBU load requirements.
Keep abreast of national, state and local level happenings regarding policies, rules, programs, etc. in the KINE and Sport Management (SPRM) environments and integrate new information into course work as appropriate.
Serve on committees as assigned by the Faculty Council, President, Provost and Academic Dean.
Maintain membership in a professional organization related to the job assignment.
Assist with advising Graduate Kinesiology Program and Graduate Sport Management Program students including registration and follow-up.
Assist with producing annual reports for the assigned programs in the College of Education. This includes assessing the program through various statistical methods, aligning the goals and objectives of the program to the University and College goals and objectives, gathering information from students and professors, which will support the statistics in the annual report.
Assist with reports required of the College of Education.
Proof online courses created by undergraduate and graduate professors in the College of Education KINE and SPRM programs.
Assist adjuncts as appropriate.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Serving students is the ultimate purpose of the faculty. Every faculty member, therefore, should see their role as a ministry to the student, challenging and encouraging them in their Christian Walk.
Modeling for students a high regard for scholarship, the faculty member should evidence expertise in the discipline and in a variety of methods of instruction.
Faculty members are to work with their Deans and Department Chairs in all matters related to their teaching assignments and other duties.
Assist in the recruitment of students including attending recruiting events and assist in planning and executing a marketing strategy.
Develop appropriate course syllabi, under the guidance of the program director. On the first day of class for the semester the syllabus should be reviewed with students.
Faculty members should be acquainted with the Academic Calendar for the academic year. Work should be planned and conducted in conformity with this calendar.
The integration of faith and learning throughout the course development should prepare students for their respective callings.
Instructional techniques and policies employed by faculty members will be in accord with the purpose of DBU, as reflected in its mission statement and will be appropriate to the specific goals of the classes.
Full-time faculty members are expected to support all commencement services as outlined in the University policy.
All faculty members are expected to serve on various committees. The Nominating Committee of the Faculty Council will appoint each full-time faculty member to one faculty committee.
Each faculty member will participate annually in various forms of professional development sponsored by the University as well as engage individually as a scholar and member of learned societies.
Faculty members are encouraged to interact with students in the program through mentoring and providing effective academic and professional guidance which contributes significantly to student retention and program completion.
Faculty will follow stated procedures and meet identified deadlines when carrying out requested reporting responsibilities such as grade reporting, annual reports, periodic student progress reports, attendance verification, accreditation reports, and other reports as designated by the Dean, Provost, Vice-President for Graduate Affairs and President.
Faculty must use their DBU issued email accounts. Personal email accounts should not be used to conduct university business.
Faculty will attend all meetings of the Faculty Council.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean, Provost, Vice President for Graduate Affairs, and President.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Regular office hours between 8:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, but occasionally flexible hours will be required.
WORK LOCATION:
This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.
