Organization Overview 
Formed in 2002, Illinois Green Alliance’s mission is to foster transformative impact in our communities through green building education and advocacy. Illinois Green is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with more than 600 members and work areas divided among education, policy and advocacy, and community initiatives.

Internship Overview 
Illinois Green Alliance seeks a creative and detail-oriented Audio/Video Intern to join our team for Fall 2025. This internship will support Illinois Green Alliance along with our critical programs: Illinois Green Schools and the Building Energy Hub by supporting communications and program teams. The intern will provide content editing support for recordings of webinars, podcasts, and short-form educational videos for public and professional audiences and optimize for engagement. There are also opportunities for graphic design for candidates with those skills. This is a great opportunity for students or early-career professionals looking to grow their portfolio in a mission-driven organization.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Edit recordings of virtual webinars and trainings into accessible, well-paced, optimized videos for YouTube and social media
  • Edit podcast audio, add intros/outros, and prepare files for publishing
  • Create short highlight reels and promotional video clips for social platforms
  • Create graphic elements to go along with videos as well as social media promotion.
  • Ensure consistent branding and accessibility (e.g., captions, visuals)
  • Organize and manage video files and project assets 

Qualifications / Preferred Skills 

  • Proficiency with video and audio editing tools (e.g., Riverside, Canva, YouTube, etc.) 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines 
  • Interest in sustainability, energy, or community development 
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools and principles 
  • Familiarity with captioning and creative graphic overlays 
  • Reliable and communicative – able to work independently and with a team 

Location:  Illinois Green Alliance is located at 180 N. LaSalle in Chicago and uses a hybrid work schedule. Local candidates are preferred. 

Compensation:  This internship is paid at $15.00 per hour. This internship is intended to be 10-15 hours per week for 12-15 weeks, starting in September and ending in December, with flexibility.
