Job Description

An International Telecommunication Company is looking for an Operating Engineer in Manhattan to join their team. This role is responsible for operating and repairing all physical equipment during assigned shifts, following TIA risk mitigation procedures. This role involves improving fire, life safety, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and emergency systems. This is a direct hire, full-time and Non-Exempt position.

Shift: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7am to 7pm. Also requires Sundays for on-call. (alternative months).

Operating Engineer responsibilities;

• Maintain and operate snow plowing, grounds, and critical facility equipment (UPS, PDU, chiller plant).
• Log and track power usage and system readings (e.g., UPS, PDU, HVAC) in SharePoint and other software.
• Manage customer work orders, provide rack power usage details, and prioritize tasks from customers and management.
• Monitor and adjust mechanical and electrical systems (HVAC, chilled water, electrical, backup systems) to ensure optimal operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams for work orders and site installs.
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP), and maintain detailed logs of all activities.
• Other duties as assigned by management

Operating Engineer Requirements:

• Must hold current NYC Refrigeration Q01 / Q99 Certification or License
• Required at least 3 years+ of experience in the data center environment
• Strong experience with water tower cooling, volume pumps, chillers, and other electric-related systems.
• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
• Must be able to work in a multicultural environment
