Domestic Violence Action Network Director Domestic Violence Action Network Director Job Description Background The Domestic Violence Action Network (DVAN) Collaborative is a cross sector group of community members, survivors, professionals, and other stakeholders working to advance a movement aimed at addressing the impacts of domestic violence, most notably intimate partner violence, in Kent County, Michigan. DVAN operates under a robust, data-driven, trauma-informed and collective impact approach to address domestic violence as a public health crisis and drive inclusive and integrated solutions across Kent County. Valuable work has been done over the years by the Domestic Violence Community Coordinated Response Team (DVCCRT), as well as its successor, DVAN. Collaborative work has continued to advance, we remain committed to advancing our work on behalf of victims & survivors of Intimate Partner Violence in our community. Position Overview The DVAN Director is a visionary and collaborative leadership position that is a full-time, exempt position. In this strategic role, the person is responsible for spearheading and coordinating a collective impact approach centered on supporting survivors of domestic violence. This position offers a flexible work environment between office and community locations. Using a collective impact model, the DVAN Director will serve as the lead of a backbone entity and uphold the key principles of this approach: A common agenda developed and driven by all community stakeholders Shared measurements Mutually reinforcing activities Continuous communication A backbone team Unique funding for the role is supported through December 31, 2026. The goal of DVAN is to secure additional funding to continue successful work and sustainability. Reporting Relationships The DVAN Steering Committee functions as the supervisory body for the DVAN Director. The Executive Committee is comprised of officers (2 Co-Chairs, a Treasurer, and a Secretary) of the Steering Committee. The Director then leads the movement of the Network through community meetings and on-going workgroups which develop collective strategy to support survivors, bring increased accountability to those who harm, and end intimate partner violence. Safe Haven Ministries operates as the fiduciary of DVAN. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary, adaptive leadership, modeling the DVAN’s values and commitment to a collective impact approach
  • Help to identify, build relationships and recruit participation in the shared agenda work, with a particular focus on systems and people that have historically not been centered in work to decrease domestic violence in our community
Community Engagement and Fund Development: 20%
  • Build the backbone’s identity as a respected, neutral convener among a multi-sector spectrum of Kent County stakeholders
  • Cultivate excellent relationships and collaborative approaches with organizational partners and community members
  • Identify potential funding sources to support DVAN’s goals and priorities, with a particular focus on continued funding post the current funding completion in December 2026
  • Communicate the vision and objective of DVAN to the community and potential partners
  • Develop and maintain relationships with potential funders and participate in relevant networks to work towards a diversification of funding for DVAN
  • Acting as a neutral arbiter, help build trust and resolve disagreements in direction among the network, work groups and Steering Committee
Project Management: 15%
  • Assist the Network in developing SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound), and work plans with timelines
  • Monitor work plans and ensure continued progress in work plans in support of the shared agenda
  • Oversee the development of a Data System and utilize data and evidence-based approaches to inform collective impact strategies and measure progress toward achieving intended outcomes
Management/Facilitation: 35%
  • Provide support and direction to DVAN workgroups in partnership with the co-chairs to align their work with the shared agenda
  • Ensure effective facilitation of all work groups, and ensure regular reporting of activities across work groups
  • Manage the DVAN Coordinator and direct their work to maintain on-going communication and coordination of meetings and workgroups
Administration: 15%
  • Complete required grant reporting and engage in funding solicitation and grant writing to further the goals and priorities of DVAN
  • Manage and coordinate with DVAN coordinator to maintain DVAN documentation and relevant records and materials from all meetings
  • Develop and execute the DVAN budget with the DVAN Steering Committee, and in close collaboration with the finance team, oversee financial reporting and ensure timely submission of financial reports to funders and Executive Committee
Qualifications
  • Experience leading and building collaborations and/or coalitions with preferred understanding of collective impact theory of change (5+ years)
  • Strong facilitation, consensus building, communication and negotiation skills, with experience in bringing diverse stakeholders together. Excellent writing skills.
  • Understanding of systems thinking and demonstrated success leading and working within multi-sector teams
  • Strong organization and project management skills for coordination of activities
  • Orientation to a learning mindset and innovative solution building
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize complex and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Committed to community centered leadership rooted in equity and inclusion
  • Familiarity with local area resources and stakeholders and/or domestic violence preferred
  • Fund development experience in diverse non-profit revenue streams
  • Ability to build authentic relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to travel across the Kent County
