Basic Functions
FIRST DATE OF REVIEW IS SCHEDULED FOR MAY 5, 2025 FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) POSITION STATUS: EXEMPT VOLUNTARY REASSIGNMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE FIRST 7 WORKING DAYS (FULL TIME FACULTY ONLY), THROUGH APRIL 1, 2025, at 5:00 PM 10-Month Tenure Track Position COMPENSATION: Initial salary placement ranges from $67,886 to $106,308, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $142,425.

Representative Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Primary responsibilities include preparation and delivery of course materials required for teaching laboratory and lecture sections of Geology; may include other courses appropriate to experience and education. Successful candidates will have background in geology and documented success in the use of educational technologies in the teaching and learning process. The assignment may include courses that are offered in the evening and on weekends.
- Participate in assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes, Program Review, Curriculum Development.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography or paleontology
OR Bachelor's in geology
AND Master's in geography, physics, or geochemistry
OR the equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience teaching college-level geology, oceanography, physical science, and/or Earth science
- Experience in mineralogy
- Experience with GIS
- Experience (or desire) in writing and executing student research grants
- Field work and/or field-trip experience
- Experience and/or certification teaching distance education classes
Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Office, classroom, lab and/or on-line environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day, weekend, and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations. Position requires ability and schedule flexibility to accommodate active participation in College and Department Outreach Events such as College and Career Fairs and College and Community Presentations.
Knowledge and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: - Knowledge of course curriculum and ability to assist in curriculum development with implementation of current events as they impact curriculum
- Set up geoscience equipment and activities for innovative hands-on labs
- Participate in assessment, program review, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes
- Proficiency in the latest industry software and technologies used in geological design
- Serve as liaison with the local/regional business and industry community. Serve as a resource for economic development and workforce development initiatives within our community.
- Revise and update course content and materials
- Stay current with evolving geology processes, tools, and equipment
- Teach scheduled classes on campus and in person and perform related duties as assigned
- Collaborate with related disciplines
- Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, Open Educational Resources (OER), manuals, software, and tools in collaboration, as appropriate, with discipline faculty
