Work Location
This internship position is located in the Human Resources Section (HRS) within the Development Coordination Office (DCO), based in New York, USA. The Intern will report to the Human Resources Officer in DCO/HRS.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Intern will be exposed to the day-to-day functions of the HR Section and will have the opportunity to contribute to the team's ongoing initiatives. Assignments will focus on both analytical and drafting tasks, with particular emphasis on clear communication and process design. Under the supervision of the Human Resources Officer, the Intern will: •Support the development and documentation of HR process workflows, including identifying areas for streamlining through automation; •Assist in the preparation of HR-related surveys, including coordination with relevant offices for input and follow-up; •Contribute to the analysis and presentation of HR data; •Draft concise and well-structured communication materials, including presentations, briefs, and reports; •Consolidate background materials and draft concept notes to support the design and implementation of HR projects; •Participate in team discussions and provide constructive input on ideas, with a focus on clarity, structure, and innovation; •Support during meetings and events, if any and as needed.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants to the internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements: a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an advantage.
Additional Information
The ideal candidate possesses strong drafting and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear manner. They should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively within a multicultural environment. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel - particularly its use for data analysis and visualization - is highly desirable. The candidate should have a keen attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and a strong sense of time management.
