The Research Assistant 1 (A) contributes to research investigators by providing research and experimentation support while following established protocols. The Research Assistant 1 (A) performs a clerical role to ensure the smooth operations of office facilities. Core job functions include setting up and operating various scientific apparatus and making minor repairs, preparing correspondence and answering phones, formulating and maintaining bibliographies, completing applications and forms, ordering laboratory supplies and maintaining culture media reagents, reviewing and editing materials for publication, maintaining logs, records, and study notebooks, and adhering to University policies and safeguarding assets. The position supports research activities under the direction of the principal investigator (Sara St George PhD) focused on promoting health and preventing chronic disease among Hispanic families through digital lifestyle interventions. The role is part-time (hourly) with remote work, in-person presence at the Miller School of Medicine at the Medical Campus of University of Miami, and in-person presence at multiple recruitment sites such as clinics, MDC schools, and community events. Duties include assisting with recruitment activities, screening potential participants, scheduling appointments, administrative recruitment tasks, attending community events, conducting screening and consent appointments, assisting with data collection, documenting participant contact and data collection, attending lab meetings, providing weekly reports, assisting with intervention development tasks, and supporting adherence to human subjects research procedures. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum 1 year of relevant experience, skill in completing assignments accurately, ability to analyze and prioritize work under pressure, ability to handle confidential information with discretion, ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary, and commitment to the University’s core values.
