The Reiner Lab is seeking a motivated and experienced Research Specialist D to join our team investigating behavioral, pharmacological, and intersectional genetic approaches coupled with neural multiomics and bioinformatics analysis in preclinical animal models. Our research addresses critical questions related to psychiatric diseases, substance use disorders, and disorders involving feeding and energy balance. Responsibilities include conducting experiments involving single-cell/nuclei RNA sequencing and epigenetic profiling; executing both short-read (Illumina) and long-read (Oxford Nanopore Technologies - ONT) genetic sequencing protocols; performing bioinformatics analyses and interpretation of sequencing data, including data from single-cell and multiomic experiments; engaging in animal handling and husbandry; performing animal behavioral assays as required; carrying out molecular biology experiments, including RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, library preparation, and quality control assays; supporting the preparation and submission of scientific manuscripts and grant proposals; overseeing junior laboratory personnel, providing mentorship and training; assisting with general lab management, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining laboratory compliance and safety standards; and performing additional duties as assigned. Qualifications include a Master of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (Ph.D. preferred) in Neuroscience, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or related discipline; demonstrated expertise in single-cell/nuclei RNA sequencing and epigenetic techniques; proficiency with short-read (Illumina) and long-read (ONT) sequencing technologies; strong background in bioinformatics with proficiency in Linux-based HPC environments, scripting languages (R, Python), and bioinformatics software; experience in animal handling, behavioral assays, molecular biology techniques, and general neuroscience methods; excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and strong interpersonal and communication skills. This position is contingent upon funding.
