The Virginia Department of Transportation is excited to announce an opportunity to join the Central Office Traffic Operations Technology Division as the next Traffic Operations Technology Systems Manager. This leader will ensure the operational availability of all Transportation Operations Center (TOC) systems and associated network and server infrastructure. Oversee and coordinate the planning, installation, delivery, operation and maintenance of mission critical Operations Technology computing systems and communications infrastructure that support VDOT's Traffic Operations Program. Ensure that all systems adhere to COV Information Technology Resources Management (ITRM) Security Policies, Standards and guidelines. Ensure that all new technologies implemented meet the objective of achieving statewide consistency and standardization across all TOCs. Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to providing traffic operations technology guidance, providing district support, transportation operations center network management, systems management, and asset analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and implement recommendations to support organization goals.
• Knowledge of project management principles and practices related to electronic or information technology systems. • Ability to implement safety standards and procedures for users related to equipment operation and work tasks. • Skill in leading, managing and facilitating technical work groups. • Skill in the use of computers and software applications. • Knowledge of 24 X 7 systems operations and maintenance and systems and communications technologies related to transportation systems. • Ability to share 24 X 7 on-call responsibility and be available to respond to emergencies as needed. • Knowledge of systems engineering processes and system analysis. • Knowledge in IT and electronic systems maintenance, design and troubleshooting. • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with Internal and external customers. • Knowledge of relevant computer hardware and software systems, telecommunications and network configuration.Additional Considerations
• A combination of training, experience or education in Information Technology, Transportation Technology or related field desired.
• Experience in managing or supervising electronic and information technology systems. • Experience with traffic management systems. • Experienced leader with transportation experience and an ability to work in a fast paced and complex environment. • Knowledge of basic facilities maintenance and inventory practices. • Experience managing large scale technology focused programs or projects.Special Instructions
