Position Summary

As a Vehicle Mechanic , you will play a crucial role in keeping our fleet in top shape. Your primary responsibilities will include repairing, servicing, reconditioning, and maintaining vehicles and equipment. You may work as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Auto & Truck Mechanic, or Small Equipment Mechanic.

Essential Duties

  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs as directed by the Equipment Shop Foreman/Fleet Maintenance Foreman.
  • Assist Master Mechanics with various tasks.
  • Safely transport vehicles or equipment to the shop.
  • Estimate repair time and costs accurately.
  • Complete work orders and necessary paperwork.
  • Notify the appropriate department upon completion of repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Report and address unsafe conditions of vehicles or equipment.
  • Exhibit a friendly and helpful attitude while interacting with guests and colleagues.
  • Stay updated on vehicle/equipment maintenance topics.

Education & Experience Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or GED

Experience

  • One year of formal training or demonstrated skill in:
  • Auto mechanics
  • Diesel mechanics
  • Auto electrical systems
  • Hydraulics
  • Basic welding
  • Two years of on-the-job experience in any of the above areas.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Current First Aid certification is a plus.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Familiarity with shop tools, equipment, and testing instruments.
  • Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, power and hand tools.
  • Experience with welding and cutting tools.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

This position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays. Key physical demands include:

  • Standing for over 2/3 of the time.
  • Walking for 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.
  • Moving up to 75 lbs. regularly.
  • Climbing and balancing on icy terrain occasionally.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently.

Wage

The hourly pay range for this position is $24 - $26 , depending on experience. Actual pay may vary based on various factors, including education, training, and responsibilities.
