Accountant

Location: Milwaukee - On Site

Position Overview:

In this key role, the Accountant will be responsible for a broad range of accounting and budgeting functions, including financial reporting, audit preparation, and maintaining day-to-day fiscal operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a high level of integrity, and a commitment to excellence in financial stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and general ledger journal entries
  • Maintain detailed records of assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses
  • Reconcile accounts and bank statements; ensure financial data integrity
  • Prepare and review internal and external billings and payment processing
  • Support budgeting activities and the preparation of financial reports
  • Assist with annual audits and related financial documentation
  • Maintain vendor relationships and oversee accounts payable/receivable
  • Prepare required tax documents, including 1099s and other filings
  • Track investment activity and update corresponding Excel reports
  • Support special events with business office activities and reconciliations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience; nonprofit or religious organization background a plus
  • Solid understanding of tax reporting and financial regulations
  • High attention to detail with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Financial Edge or Raiser’s Edge is a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Additional Information:

  • This position requires occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) and regular computer-based work
  • Must be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a collaborative office environment
