Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst plays a critical role in supporting financial reporting, analysis, and strategic decision-making. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and preparing budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans, conducting ad-hoc financial analyses, and providing accurate and data-driven insights to support the management team.

We are seeking a highly analytical FP&A professional with a strong background in data science, adept at leveraging advanced analytical tools such as Power BI and Excel to enhance financial modeling, reporting, and business intelligence. The ideal candidate possesses problem-solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that drive business performance.

The Financial Analyst reports to the Director and collaborates with all levels of the SPT management team, both at the home office and across territories, as well as with SPE Corporate Finance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Reporting & Analysis (80%)

  1. Conduct financial analysis for the SPT group and various business initiatives
  2. Assist with special projects and ad hoc management reporting
  3. Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that drive business performance
  4. Design and implement interactive data dashboards using advanced visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI
  5. Collaborate with business units to assess the financial impact of strategic decisions and optimize resource allocation
  6. Automate data collection, transformation, and reporting processes to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort
  7. Prepare monthly variance analysis comparing actuals to budget/forecast for key management reports
  8. Support the accounting department during the month-end close process by explaining variances

Budget & Forecasting (20%)

  1. Prepare monthly flash forecasts, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and mid-range plans, ensuring all required corporate submissions are completed accurately and on time
  2. Leverage advanced data analytics and statistical modeling to enhance financial forecasting, scenario planning, and decision-making
  3. Coordinate with local offices to manage budget and forecast submissions and respond to requests
  4. Develop forecasts for monthly Home Office Flash reports
  5. Assist in preparing presentations for Budget and Mid-Range Plan (MRP) meetings

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  1. Experience of 1+ years in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Data Science experience is required
  2. Industry experience in cable, network or digital platforms, advertising sales or television is preferred, with international experience also being a plus
  3. Fluency in English (required); Fluency in Spanish (preferred)
  4. Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools (Excel, PowerPoint, VBA, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  5. SAP financial system experience is preferred
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  7. Excellent communication, presentation, and strong leadership skills are essential for this individuals success
  8. Effective prioritization skills and time management are essential, as well as the ability to multi-task
  9. Ability to make commitments and meet deadlines
  10. Proactive, self-starter, and independent thinker
  11. Team player with strong interpersonal skills who can work well with all levels of employees and is comfortable/experienced working in a multicultural environment
  12. The ideal candidate will have a mix of financial and accounting experience, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and planning
  13. Knowledge of financial statement preparation and variance analysis, and experience in budget and forecast preparation

EDUCATION

Bachelors degree with a focus on Data Science, Finance, Accounting, or Economics is required.
